Today my CD-R drive fails on every CD I try to burn. Looks like a new drive must be purchased this weekend. Let’s hope the next drive isn’t a SISSY LITTLE BABY like this one. (Maybe shame will make it work.)
Update: Shame had no effect.

Sounds like it needs a little percussive maintenance.

Treat your new drive to great luxuries. Maybe when the old drive sees it how you’re treating the new drive, it’ll try to improve its karma next lifetime. ;)

let your cd-r drive cool down between each batch of 7-8 burns to prevent overheating.

Also: store in a cool, dry place.
Don’t leave aerosols in direct sunlight.
Don’t look directly into an eclipse.
Do not drink household bleach
If you scratch it, it’ll never heal.

Do not look directly at Happy Fun Drive.
Do not taunt Happy Fun Drive.

My guess is that your cd drive wants some of the royalties for your songs.
Try inserting a few quarters and closing it.
