OfficeMax

What’s awesome is spending lots of time on the phone with OfficeMax customer service trying to get them to do something about my December 10th order of bubble envelopes that still hasn’t even shipped. They claim one business day shipping on most orders and have the delivery date on the order projected as December 12th, 2003 which is practically a million billion years ago. The status code even says “PIP - order received, filling order in delivery center” like I’m some sort of sub-idiot man-jerk.

I am in fact typing this up as I’m sitting on hold listening to OfficeMax advertisements (”when you think ink, think OfficeMax!”). This is the third time I’ve called them today, the previous two times I’ve been transferred to other departments. One time I wound up on the phone with a bank for some reason which, the lady I was talking to there agreed, was totally the wrong place for me to be.

This is actually an improvement over the two other occasions I’ve called them since the 10th asking about my order. Both of those times I was told someone would call me back and nobody did. So I at least feel a bit better about being transferred around even if it means each time I reach a dead end I have to hang up and call back and wait for one of their representatives to be free. I at least feel like I’m just one transfer away from a solution rather than waiting for a phone call that will never ever come, ever.

If there is ever a market for tell-all books by musicians (possibly with lots of swearing) on the subject of postage and envelopes and office supplies and maybe the crushing impact of this knowledge on a person’s ability to write songs, I am going to god damn write it.

Still on hold. I hope I’m at least getting punk rock indie cred or something for this.

I had the same problem with Sharper Image, the one time I saw reason to purchase their goods.

Hey bob, it was through the OfficeMax.ca website.

hey bob, try Merrillville, IN. Store mgr has NO people skills. Nice to know the mgr’s are able to insult customers and still keep their job. Would rather chew leg off than ever shop at OfficeMax again and plan to tell everyone I know.

I work at OfficeMax and while I have to admitt that we do generally suck its not our fault. Its Corporate for understaffing us, Underpaying us, over working us, and mainly the people to make the discussions have never worked in a actual store. The only reason OfficeMax is kept afloat is cause there is alot of good people who try very hard to keep people happy. So were not all that bad, just bad economy cause these problems.

DO NOT PURCHASE EXTENDED WARRANTY IN OFFICE MAX. GENERAL ELECTRIC WILL GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND, AND NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY.THAT HAS BEEN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

OfficeMax has been ignoring my complaints since October 26 2003. I have e-mailed several people, sent a letter to their corporate Headquarter, spoken with tons of people on the phone, only to get promises that I will be contacted, but I never have. Now today I spoke with someone, I sent him the information, but he tells me that I will never be contacted by them and I will never hear anything more than his telephone apology that he (very sincere - yeah, right!) gave me today. Any ideas how to get back at them?

Carrie, I have the same experience as you: store management doesn’t care if customer is happy or not, ready to ignore or insult them, employee invited my husband to take the issue outside with him, etc.

I was an Operations Manager in Southern California (District #63) for 4 years before I quit. I was told by Our District Manager to push sales on MaxAssurances (Protection Plans) on everything we sold. They are useless, and a waste of money. Save the headache and shop at Staples or Office Depot. This company doesn’t care about its customers. All they worry about is Sales per Hour, and tag teaming customers with there add-ons.

Oi, don’t let one bad experience ruin it for you. Officemax has a bunch of stores that are run by different people. It is up to the people that run the place that determins good customer service. I try my best to help everyone the best i can. But sometimes i can’t help people who dont want to be helped. Some customers think they can walk all over us. We have set rules we have to go by and thats what we have to do. If you really have a problem with the individual that took care of your problem, contact uper management. Often, asking for their district manager is a good solution. Boise Cascade just bought out OfficeMax, so they are really trying to reshape the image of the store and actually car about Customer Service. Try going through them, their numbers and emails are all over their corporate website.

Hello. I work at officemax in NY. Yes this job sucks big time. Covact is right Managers at Officemax are dumb asses. We go through associate every week. Yes I mean our manager will hire somebody, and they quit. Can he learn something from that. NO. But it is not all of our fault. I deal with retarted customers every day. I don’t know maybe there is something in the air. This is for all you morans that shop at officemax store and yell at the little people and ruin their day. If you want to yell at sombody yell at the corporate.
AND when you say i will never shop at this store THEN DON’T COME BACK” MORAN.

I ordered a new desk from Office Max. (Nice desk, btw, I do like it). But when I called the shipping people to figure out when it would be delivered, they said “Oh it’ll be there between 8am and 5pm”. 8 and 5?!?! WTF kind of answer is that? That’s worse than even the cable company! It’s not like I can take a whole day off to wait on a desk. At least give me a half day range instead of the whole freakin’ day.

Luckily it arrived while my special lady was here before she left for work.

I used to work at OfficeMax also.
I worked from the Corporate Offices In Ohio.
I’m reading these posts and I can’t help but crack up! This is too funny!

It’s true at corporate, we were never allowed (per se) to “feel” for the people at store level. Some type of unwritten code, but you get concerned and you are quickly told not to worry about “them”. How can a company be run with an “us” and “them” attitude? Go figure. This trickled to some store managers I had the chance to talk to over the phone. They had this “us” and “them” attitude toward the customers too of all people. Go figure.

I guess you can blame it on the rain. It rains alot (snows) up here in Ohio and that has to have an effect on “corporate” brains.

    Hello,
I was with OfficeMax for 10 years before I quit… and while I disagree with customers issues at least in the store that I was in… (we were lucky enough to have employees that cared about the customer and a DM that refused to let customers be angry) Corporate and their number crunching with the hours just about killed my store.. I no longer work there because of alot of BS in the store… ie… managers lying about how much time they are in the store, letting employees return items that there horse stepped on.. (I have the picture if you dont believe me..) It was a shame to quit… I loved working there.. but there comes a time when enough is enough.. and I had had enough… funny thing is… No one wondered why after 10 years… I quit… go figure…

    Omax (good company?) NO!!

alright everybody. i have worked at the Omax for 3 years. i have watched the deals go from buy X product and get X amount of instantly, to buy this product and get a $3 mail in rebate and a $12 mail in rebate as long as you purchase the qualifying item that is backordered for 2 months. Omax used to be a legit customer oriented business, but within the past 1 1/2 years they have gone cheap. cheap in every aspect. a little known fact is that average wages among the entire retail segment have fell almost 8% in the past 2 years. raises are down almost 10%. what kind of motivation does this offer employees. annual raises are just outright insulting. i work with another manager that recieved a .07% increase. this doesn’t even cover cost of living. no company will have motivated employees with bullshit raises like that. (not to mention he also lost a $7900 bonus). for the omax sups and managers you all will understand, he scored a 4 on his review. customer service across the bored is steadily dropping. and omax corporate also will run the same item in an ad for 4 weeks straight. of course the stores will run out. the company runs out. rainchecks are great if we ever get the product back in. overall, to the customers-you cannot expect the world from associates making $7 an hour. if you are getting mad at the associates you ARE wrong. it is not there fault. get mad at the corporate office for steadily decreasing the pay and having no retention of employees. call the corporate office and let them know that the store that you visited wasn’t at expectations and you weren’t even close to being satisfied. let them know that mail in rebates are fraudulent. tell them you actually want to save money. but remember, it is not the single poorly paid associates fault. call the corporate office at 216-471-6900. let them know- they are the only ones that could change things.

Service Plans can be good! Product is 3 Months out of Original Mfgr warranty and needed repair. Service plan just bought back my entire original purchase price for the unit. Much better than having to go pay for a new unit myself.

I have been a customer of Boise Office Solutions for 10 years. I can assure you that they will turn each and every OfficeMax store into a caring customer oriented retail store. Boise believes in Total Quality and has the best customer service in the country. When you use their customer service you ALWAYS get a live Voice….Never a voicemail. I get an email acknowledgement on every order I place, and it shows if there is a backorder. OfficeMax will have the same service beginning this summer as Boise converts all of the retail stores to their culture. I have tried Staples and Office Depot several times just to keep Boise honest, and NOBODY brings the extra value to the table like Boise does. So Please try OfficeMax again this summer. The local store in my town can use the business! I hope this helps!

I’ve been with OfficeMax for 5 years now, and I have hated working there from day one. The only reason why I am still working there is that I have not found another job. All I get from management are promises that can’t be kept. Now with our merger with Boise it’s only going to go down hill. We are now pushing more stuff to our customers, which means we will always be annoying you. Not to mention OfficeMax now to sell “business to business” meaning we don’t care about the average person, unless you have alot get out we don’t your service. Ed you are an idoit if you think OfficeMax is going to be better, it’s a worthless place to work and a worthless place to shop. Avoid shopping at OfficeMax at all costs.

When you run into difficulties with customer service reps, and their managers are rude and/or incompetent, always get a phone number for corporate hq. Before you do that, though, tell the offending party that you’re not going to take their crap. This is how I’ve survived AOL, Verizon, and two credit card companies. And won.

I have worked at OfficeMax for 1 year. (1 year today, acutally) I’m 17 years old and I’m contemplating whether or not I want to stay there. It is a very stressful job. I work in CopyMax and things are always going wrong. I can never do my job to the fullest because machines are always breaking and we are always running out of things. I’m supposed to get a raise soon so I think I might stay. But I hate the general public. They say things to me that I would never to say to someone just because they were out of a certain color paper or something like that. I’m tired of the way people talk to me for things that I have no control over. I’ve gotten to the point where if someone treats me like crap, they’re going to get it right back. People should stop coming back to CopyMax to ask questions about merchanidise, it’s really annoying. Other than the mentally ill customers I have to deal with and some stupid people I have to work with, I enjoy the job. I agree that we have some customer service issues but its not the acutal associate’s fault, we do what we can.

i worked from march to sep of last year at a new york officemax and without a doubt, that was THE WORST JOB on the face of the earth. I would actuley hope for terrorist attacks and sick shit to happen, just so that i dident have to go in there those lame ass 4 hours a week they gave me, claming that they had so many fucking people there and thats all they could squeeze in YET THERES A FUCKING NOW HIRING SIGN ON THE GOD DAM WINDOW.
Im so fucking happy im out of there. God, i hope every single officemax closes down and burns to fucking ashes. the managers are assholes, the stores smell like an anchovies cunt, and there products are worth less then a 4 day old moldy shit

    Offi-Smack Dat' Ass!

I’m working for OfficeMax at the moment and I can tell you OfficeMax Hater that they basically didn’t want you to work there anymore, thats what some places will do instead of firing you. They have to have a legit reason to fire you, they didn’t so they chopped your hours and made it pointless for you to even show up. OfficeMax does suck at customer service, but it’s not the salespersons fault. Higher management will tell you that times are slow and chop our crews down to almost nothing. The only reason I work there is because of the pay is 2 bucks higher an hour then most other places. Top management wants to look good to their higher up’s so they work the numbers and cut hours and this ends up with nobody on the floor. And of course, the people left on the floor look good because they have to or they get replaced by some other idiot working there who knows nothing about what they are selling. They also teach us to use tactic’s that seem a little unfair to the customer. The funny part here is this, there are so many stupid people who will go for it almost every time. I’ve even heard of one stupid customer that told a salesperson that he was very knowledgeable and even shook the salespersons hand. The customer bought a freaking 30 dollar paper shredder and bought the service plan for 2 years. All’s that I could do was turn my face and laugh. Sucker’s are in abundance in this beautiful planet of our’s and I really don’t understand how knowledgeable somebody has to be over a damn paper shredder. “Beam me up, Scotty!”
And the stupidest thing that I’ve ever heard was purchasing a Max Ass for a freaking stick of DDR Memory. We get pushed for a few things, but the most important are the Max Ass and Add-On’s. We don’t make scrap on the main ticket items where the profit margin is about 5 to 10%, It’s the ink for the printer your buying or the USB cable for that All-In-One Machine. And believe me, it’s almost a form of brain washing when it comes to the Max Ass on both items. If you want to listen in on the fun, try this… Go into a store and ask the salesperson about the radio he’s using. Ask him to show it to you because you are interested in purchasing one. While he’s showing it to you, take notice of the channel that the radio is on. Then later use your own radio and go in with the radio turned on and on the same channel and the volume up as far as it will go. I’ll bet 50 bucks that the store will almost come to a stand-still. Sit outside and listen in on the “Head-Tactics” that they use on the customers. The radio is the main form of communication throughout the entire store.
If you have a problem with the store or the functions of it, the salesperson is the last person that you should be talking to. If the manager doesn’t fix something thats wrong, then ask him for his name and regional’s name and phone number. That will most likely fix things for you. But most of all… Remember to get the Max Ass!

i work at officemax. it is a piece of shit place to work that promotes only based on skin color and stupidity. i am not a racist, but i have seen way to many overqualified white people passed up for jobs only to promote underqualified black people. the company has this attitude that if you are white you are expandable, but if you are black, you are great. at least with the district manager we have, she is this what else underqualified over bearing black woman that hates to see the white man succeed. she does anything to make your life a living hell. and the pay sucks my balls, hiring people in at $7.00 an hour. WTF!!! that is why it seems like a bunch of helpless drones that work there, because if you pay someone the minimum, you get the minimum, GET IT U STUPID BASTARDS AT COPRORATE!! that is why your company sucks, pay and the fact that u look for managers with no college education.

I’ve worked for boise for 5 years and I hope they take the reigns on office max. I have personally taken over 20k of credited returns just to make the customer happy. My job is not to sell but to call the customers and make sure the customer is happy. B&M sales are an entirely different animal though.

    Officemax Hater

Oh the lord is so good to me, and there is salvation at the end of the hell that was officemax. I now have the best job ever, and can gladly say with complete confidence, i have the best job of my life (so far, im only 21.) I now work at a EB games, and god its great. I actuley hate days off, because frankly, i wana work. and im so lazy, that i never wana work. But, oh god in heave, its a great job and sure kicks the shit outa officemax. Honestly, if i ever have a bad day at my current job (anoying coustmers mostly) i just have to think of the hell that was officemax, and sweet salvation imbraces me and i feel great. If i can only get laid and win the lottery, ill be made. Sure, the pay is a dollor less then officemax, but i still make way more then i ever did at officemax. at officemax, id only work 4 hours a week, 4 hours, and lets do the math, 4 hours a week at 8 an hour, thats 32 dollors a week, and i got paid every 2 weeks, for a grand totel of 64 dollors every 2 weeks. holy shit, that dident even cover the amount of gas i had to use to go to the fucking store. now every two weeks i make about 150 or more. (yea, its part time, and im just starting out, but hey, ya know) and i make less here then at officemax. Also, i love my job, just love it. Hell, i offer to do almost anything just to get more hours. Even right now, its 426 am, and i got work at 1 this afternoon, and i cant sleep because im so fucking excited about going to work (which makes no sense what so ever, but hey, thats whats going on) I almost dont wana go to sleep becaue im afrade i might wake up late and miss work!

well, enough about my bragging. just for all ya poor fuckers stuck at officemax, let it be know, there is still hope for you. Flee that hell of a store, flee it and find ye salvation.

For one, Dude you really need to learn to spell before you start talking smack about anything. You sound like some poor freak who needs help counting out his change at jack in the box. I don’t mean to be mean, but damn it man, start watching Barney or something. Do you actually think that we all believe you when you say that your working for some big time game programmers company? Dude, your so freaking baked, I would have a hard time believing that you got a job working at McDonalds. And from the looks of it, I would have to say that your even too damned lazy to read, write, hit the “backspace” button and correct something. If you came to work for me, Even if it was to pull up weeds in my yard, I’d have to tell you, “Look man, get up and put those tweezers down and get your stupid ass back to school!” And for #2, Before you talk crap, learn to freaking talk!
I hope to hell that you don’t talk the same way your write or type.

I’ve been working at OMX for a year now, in CopyMax. Matt, I feel for you! For the idiots that think we should honor online deals, shut up. OfficeMax and OfficeMax.com are completely separate. Why should we eat 20 bucks when we had to ship the product here in the first place? And don’t wine about rebates to us, do you really think we can do anything for you? All we do is give you a bull-shit answer in the end to make you leave! Don’t get mad at us, ever. Do you think it’s our fault that you filled out your rebate form wrong, or that we ran out of your ink! Do you really expect us to give a shit about your $500 printer when we can hardly pay for our rent and tuition? To top it off, we’re getting our hour’s cut! If you’re going to complain about our store, complain about our new district manager. Our store manager is a stingy bastard, but it would pay off. When other stores were getting hours cut he would dip into his savings, which he got from not having parties and not buying supplies (our First Aid cabinet is empty). So our employees were not getting our hours cut, but then — comes in and realizes that we have some money she can use for other crappy stores. She takes this money that —– has saved, that we have saved. Now our store is getting hit really hard. Tonight for our closing crew we had one manager, one person on the floor, one CopyMax associate (me) and one person on the register. Do you really think that we can keep a store running with only 4 people? Plus I was busy as hell, CopyMax is always busy. Don’t get pissed at us, get pissed at Corporate. When you call to complain about a store, complain that they were understaffed, overworked, and underpaid. Tell them that their employee’s work too hard for what they get paid. Tell them get strait or shits going to go down.

Pitty me, I cut my finger today and their were no band-aids to heal my wound! Now its official, I have shed blood, sweat, and tears for this company. And what do I get in return? 6.75 and hour. Bull-shit.

WTF 6.75 an hour at OMX???!?!, I started 8.50 at OMX as a merchandiser two years ago when I was 16… well up to only 8.75 now, without a performance review in those 2 years…

Spelling Bee your stupid. EB Games is a gaming store, not a “big time game programmers company” dipshit. I think if I could find a job other then OfficeMax where i had a lot of fun at each day, and went home happy instead of stressed out, and actually wanted to go to work instead of fearing it, and had to take a pay cut, i’d do it.

    OMX4E...&E&E&E :(

There are a lot better places to work than OMX, but, then there are a lot worse too. I work(ed) at store 0530 in Michigan. we have a manager that is such a spaz, but is a nice guy at heart.

And yes, don’t complain to us about rebates, being out of stock, or just some general defficiency. it’s corperate, they don’t send us what we sell the most of. it’s their little game they play.

it’s really the only decent place to work in town as far as retail goes. we as employees have a very tight bond at the store, and that’s really what holds any of us there together, you have to when your boss is a nut and the customers are generally freaks (we’re the only electronics store in town, so, we get ALL types.

in short, corperate is a bunch of whores so far removed from the idea of retail that mathmatics cannot sum the distance. please don’t shoot the messengers. and yes, they hire ANY ONE, so chances are you are probly either dealing with an idiot, or some one who isn’t paid/worked enough to care. and why should they? omx realy realy are misers with the hours.

    but, people are people.

STFU, your full of crap and you know it. You sound like one of those paint sniffers who are too lazy to work in the first place. And for that stupid comment, “You rock dude!” That also shows alot of mentality. These are stepping stone jobs and not actually life time achievements. If your going to post something that really matters then try doing this…
Stop abusing drugs and other chemicals for about 10 years. And, in doing so, Get some education and step up from that 1st grade level reading and writing. Take a good look at the world today and the countries economy. Then, when you have put down the video games and paint, along with dressing up in your sisters clothes, come back to this website and post a comment. Things are tough all over. Your not the only person having a hard time paying bills. But, with some planning and honest hard work as well as not being industrial chemical dependant, you too can work towards a goal in life other than how high of a score you got on SOCOM.

Hello I work at a office max and must of the time we do not suck but the thing people have to remember is that we put up with so much shit every and so much bull shit will make you go crazy like when people try to return a printer that it ten years old and try to say they got it a day ago. But we have to calmly tell them no we can’t take it back and then here it comes they say why!!!!!!!!! why!!!!! I…I…I… got it yesterday. well all of these hard asses see what we go throw mybe they will lighten up. But the thing we try to do the must is to help you the best we can that is our job to help you find what you need!!

p.s if you are one of them dumb ases that does that and complans about one thing think what we go throw every day and, if you still do not like us then go fuck yourself.

I’ve worked at OfficeMax for just over a year now. And to comment first on the original thread; I agree, OfficeMax is a POS… the only way to get things done - as I’ve noticed with many companies - is to work your way up the management lines. First ask for the district manager’s # and name of whatever location/place you’re calling (make sure to ask the assoicates name who you’re talking to also). If that doesn’t work, which I imagine it would, demand the corporate manager’s # and name. If that doesn’t work… you weren’t being demanding enough. Officemax managers know that all other store managers are shady. No one trusts each other in this company and is constantly talking behind one another’s backs. Keeping my mouth mostly shut is what’s actually given me the edge on being “friends” with all of my managers/assoicates. They’re at least 75% back-stabbing fu*&s though.

On top of all of that… I DO want to make a point of saying that I HATE OFFICEMAX and EVERYTHING associated with it. Let me leave this post with this remark: Free after rebates and 50% off any one shipment through AirboreExpress… has really almost made me racist towards indians. What is it with the indian culture?! THE ONLY REASON THEY COME IN IS TO GET THEIR FREE-AFTER REBATE ITEMS AND CHEAP SHIPMENTS. CHEAP, that’s all I’ve noticed from these people… on the day after thanksgiving… if you come to officemax… I hate you, too.

I would just like to inform everyone. I was fired today from OfficeMax (CopyMax) because I “did not file a work order.” I followed company policy of “On time or free” This job was for a friend, and I obviously was going to point that out to him, why not? Who tipped them off of this “dirty deed”? Why, my CopyMax Sales Supervisor looking to work her way up the fu&khead ladder. THESE ARE THE TYPES OF PEOPLE that OfficeMax has working at their store. Greedy, two-faced losers. In short, I hope everyone realizes what a shady and insufficient company OfficeMax REALLY is.

I have worked at OMX for 4 1/2 yrs. In the beginning it was good…then a new DM, a spastic lying outwardly lesbian witch with a unfounded case of penis envy who proceed to run off and/or destroy every white male possible. She was later fired for “messaging” her figures as regional manager thus enhancing her bonus…gee wiz I have seen our Loss Prevention manager prosecute six people at a time for not paying for a coke and candy bar while queen carpet muncher moved on to another company in mid managment with no mention of embezzlement???? I was/am far enough down the ladder to not become a direct target so I survived her attack. However, the store manager didn’t and he was the best person I ever worked for. (sometimes demanding but always honest and fair)I am in my 40’s and kept a job since I was 15…I do mean that he was the best person I ever worked for. Anyway the corp. of OMX is a miserable sack of whale excrement as low as the ocean floor. They have an incredible ability to find a few honest and hard working low level employees to make a living for everybody else at the store and make a practice of hiring in an outsider for an opening above them so as to not promote there own. Sure, work hard and it will pay off, do the right thing and it will come back to you, yes teach your children this so they may believe that life is fair too!!!! I won’t bore anyone with the details of my personal experiences but I have had my share of broken dreams and promises from managment at OMX. My advise to anyone assistant mgr. or below is to find a better place to work…a lateral transfer to a defferent company holds far more promise than OMX. I challenge you to research OMX historuy of replacing the positions above you and look at the percentage of those the promote from within compared to any other retail company…just for fun check out Wal-mart as a comparison base, and Wal-mart is not near as good a place to work as it was when Mr. Sam and his wife still ran it!

For anybody working at officemax or copymax: When they fire you, they’ll have you write out your side of whatever story they’re firing you for. They use this against you, and they can use it to screw you out of unemployment. In some cases, unemployment will deny your claim if you willfully violated a handbook rule, and copymax can produce this to prove it, even if the real story is more complicated or they simply lied, as they did with me. Use this chance to completely deny every charge, even if it was witnessed by others. They’ll tell you they can’t accept it if it isn’t accurate. Just insist that’s the story you’re sticking with and refuse to rewrite it. They’ll say that you’ll be fired for sure (usually they say they’ll “investigate” for a few days, then let you know), but you’re getting fired anyway. They just don’t want to deliver the bad news in the store. With the history of fucking and mistreating employees that they’ve racked up, they’re justifiably afraid of what you might do. So if the time comes, you can at least make life difficult for them.
This will be happening a lot these days. The managers are under some directive to cut payroll, so they are getting rid of people who make too much. I was fired first, and soon after about a dozen other people, the best paid, were fired and almost immediately replaced with part-time kids who get minimum wage and no benefits. These were good people, old-timers, who couldn’t possibly have deserved it.

I currently work for Office Max and it was nice at first. The people I worked with were cool (for the most part) and the pay was nice.
But you can be a really good customer service person, and if you don’t sell Max Assurance, your hours will be cut-
    As I found out.
And don’t try to do nice things for the suctomers, managment will make an example out of you to other employees.
Wish me luck, I’m going there now.

The week of Sept. 12th is when I mailed in two rebates. Now it is the week of Jan 2nd.
The rebate form states at the bottom: “You should receive your rebate within 8 weeks.”
That’s right, if it comes this week (which it probably won’t), I will get the checks 16 weeks after I mailed them in.
They are cutting hours because people like me won’t shop there anymore.

I feel that this is a form of false advertising. Anyone else feel this way? Go to bbb.com and file a complaint. Let’s push for a class action suit.

Jesse, Like just about every other customer who has never worked in Retail… You’re a Dumb @$$. Rebates are generally through a manufacturer not through the company you buy the product from (yes, some are through the retailer, but very few). Just like warranties, you people think because it has a 1 year warranty that means a Retailer will return it within a year (WRONG… send it back to the Damn company who made it… we just sell products… the MFR is responsible for the quality of it) OfficeMax is by far way better than most other places (Best Buy… who is being sued for improper rebate practices). Did you make copies of your rebate stuff? Have you went in to an OfficeMax store to check on your rebate? Have you went to the web address at the bottom of the rebate form to check the status? My guess would be NO! 90% of the time OfficeMax can get a rebate approved even if it was denied… all you have to do is take them the info. All Rebate Companies are the same… they say 6 - 8 weeks and its more like 3 - 4 months (doesn’t matter where you buy it from) It should be a damn law that all people should have to work in some form of retail for at least a month and see the shit we have to put up with from Piss Ass customers. (granted that not all customers are this way, but some just don’t get that they are Ass Holes… I take care of the customer more if they are nice than if they’re pissy.) “The customer is always right” whoever put this crock of shit into America’s head obviously didn’t work in retail… the quote should be “The customer always lies and bitches to get what they want; Right or Wrong”

Well after reading the comments on this board I am just happy to see that things are pretty much the same all across the company. I have had 2 tour of duties with Officemax, once was about 5 years ago with a store that was shut down whenever they went through a restructing process and the other was about a year ago with what I would say is probably the worst store in the company. The first time around I was a furniture supervisior at was then a Furniture II store, before they went through and changed everything and it was a pretty nice place to work at, except for the fact that they restructed our commission payouts and we wound up getting hosed. The last time around I worked in Copy Hell and I have to say it was a nightmire. The store manager along with the assistant manager where the most useless pieces of shit ever. The store manager, a former Wal-Mart loser, would sit in the office all the time and refused to do anything other then yell at people and talk to various girlfriends on the phone. The assistant manager a butch lesbian was always in a crappy mood, hated men, and was caught several times by key carrying supervisiors in the cash office with a girlfriend of her’s doing nasty crap. My copymax supervisior was a pretty nice old lady for the most part, although she refused to stand up for us to management and had little back bone. Drugs where also a problem at our store with several associates and store management lighting up a joint out back behind the store, and calling the employee tip line was a useless waste as it just got fowarded on to the District Manager who just whipe his ass with it. Its sad how far OfficeMax has went down the tubes over the year but with the POS managers that they hire and the constant push for Max Ass what can you say, and I take pride in never having sold one of those useless piece of junk Max Asses in my life.

Officemax isnt too bad to work at, just as long as there are ‘fun’ employees to work with. if you didnt want to put something up, just bust it a little and put it in the defect pile to return. management is a revolving door at OMX, it just sucks. you get everyone from idiots to bar bouncer jocks(assholes, hate em) and a few good folks that are management material (rare). Copy max is a pain in the ass, all kinds of customers wanting shit. and if you are a ‘floater’, you wont ever get your work done, thanks again management. RIP store #177 NOT!!!! mike westerfield
