In my observations: When producers and dj's remix rock & roll (especially the singer-songerwriter variety) it tends to be a novelty, . R&B (old and new) are much more likely to be used.

my suggestion: just post the a cappellas.

I think sampled-cut-up-put-back-together stuff is on the wane, personally. It's never been my cup of tea, and I was glad when rap artists started moving back to using original tracks to back their rhymes. I don't find much interest in hearing little bits of old recordings all mashed together or played over each other. I think part of the fascination with that stuff is "hey wow, you can play this over that and it works!", which I find completely uninteresting. I mean, of course some stuff fits over other stuff. It's a bunch of pop songs-- they use a lot of the same structures and melodies and stuff.

Like, doing a mix of Sheryl Crow's "Leaving Las Vegas" with Steve Miller's "Gangster of Love"... they fit on top of each other almost perfectly, but snoooooooore

I kind of like that one Daft Punk record, and I like Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice", but that does it for me. I'm full.
