These are little dated (five years in one case). While the concepts are still useful and the MPC beat/sample boxes featured in these are still a mainstay of hip-hop artists, I get the impression more and more are starting to use a PC and a dumb MIDI trigger box, letting the software take over these functions (sampling, beatslicing, time-stretching, eq-ing, etc.).
