not to mention early corpsepaint (Dead,darkthrone,burzum,immortal) was alright but it’s now apparently a fucking circus and besides the old days wasn’t about making “cool” black metal for image, according to varg it was about being creative and actually trying to destroy christianity (or so i hope - i went to church from 10 - 17 and i knew it was bullshit by the time i was twelve (1990) and i hadn’t even heard of black metal) these days except for the old school NSBM is much better as in graveland

Black Metal is a movement not a religion though some choose to follow the movement more closely than others. There are also various forms of the movement. The one thing that is common throughout the movement is the basis of death of all things orthodox and modern. It is a movement against the lies of Christianity though not necessarily Satanist. (Though some choose to go that way) The church burnings (though only propaganda for some) symbolized this. If I wanted to relate myself to anyone in this most powerful genre it would be Varg Vikernes because I beleive in alot of the things he used to beleive. Until he killed Euronymous and started changing his whole life story time and time again.

Being a huge fan of BM, am sick and fucking tired of hearing people saying ‘oh this is not true black metal, they’re sold out, stay satanic!!!’ What a bunch of immature morons!!! What are you trying to prove? We listen to such music cause it’s beautiful to our ears. There are no more rules, unless you’re a follower of such labels! Just because CoF and Dimmu are more successful in their career, and MORE ppl appreciate their music, that doesn’t make them ’suck’! BTW, those pictures are damn hilarious!

DB, OMC and CoF is nothing but child-friendly “bm”. Immortal is crap, Emperor is crap (except the first two albums, yet the second album was kinda bad)… hmm.. in fact the whole norwigian bm scene is more or less crap and highly overrated, and has never been what some likes to call “true”… fuck them!!! tastes differ, i can understand the anger for BM fans that the scene goes mainstream by some band, becouse it was actually underground.
i listen most any ”kind” of BM music ”(Rock foundation or heavy metal foundation)”

Venom,Possessed,Hellhammer,Mayhem,Marduk,Dark funeral, mercyfull fate,Mactatus,Gorgoroth
and all that kinda shit,but also some death metal:Death,Morbid angel,Vomitory,Deeds of flesh,Deicide etc.. i also dont care about trueness and that shit,i care about the music.
The reason why i hate those commercial bands is becouse i think they are more after the money, not really the music…

Ok guys… just face it once and for all… Black Metal SUUUUUUCKSSSSS… Those pictures are so ridiculous! In fact, the whole thing is pathetic! 1st of all, you don’t have to dress yourself like some freakin’ sadomasoquist and put makeup on your face to play music. They even have the nerv of pretending to be scary, satanistic, evil and all that bs! Plus, everytime I had the miserable experience of having my ears tortured by some black metal stuff, it just felt like they didn’t know what to do with their instruments! I actually think that’s the reason why they make all that drama-theater… Metal isn’t about being (or pretending to be) the evil guys, or holding an 7ft axe and pose like an Ork! Metal is about music, musicianship, skills, feelings, creativity, philosophy, etc. Go listen to some real music like Death, Atheist, Obituary, Bloodbath, Opeth, Decapitated, Necrophagist, Dew-Scented or many other great bands… That’s real metal!! Though I guess you’ll keep listening to “the dark lords” lol! BTW, I like the “10 rules of BM” lol… so funny and some of them are true! P.S.: Black, Gothic, Nu, Rap, Hardcore, etc should simply not exist!! They’re all aberrations of metal and music in general!
