Does dawn actually repair scratches or does it just clean it?

after doing tons of research i found out
dawn doesn’t work to fix scratches and neither do any of these:
brasso
old maid (just like comet)
tooth paste
car polish
an eraser
none have worked for me so i recommend going out and purchasing a cd doctor
it will save you alot of trouble
