I got annoyed sanding on an overturned recycling bin (aka my workbench) and there happened to be some Father’s Day sales on workbenches. So I bought one of these for $20:

I’ve spent the past week trying to set this up in intermittent spurts. Turns out not only am I retarded and stupid, I am also inept. Here’s what my assembled version looked like a couple days ago:

Sickly. Looks like it needs to be put down. Since then I went and bought some more nuts (you can just buy them) and have stabilized it somewhat, but now the wood for the top doesn’t fit anymore. So I really don’t want to talk about it anymore.

I finally found some Krylon paint in a craft store. There was a sale on so I think all the sexy colors were taken. Here’s what I got:

I think I’m going to paint it “true blue”. I really thought about bright yellow or pink, as I like those colors, but then I thought maybe I should go for something more conservative as those loud colors seem like ones you could get sick of real easily. And blue’s still a nice non-standard guitar color. My little logo falling guy will be in black.

Also my order from Stewart MacDonald showed up today. Here are my Golden Age pickups:

Getting these has made me regret tearing my guitar apart because I really want to try them out, but I can’t until I paint the stupid thing.

I’m goning to get a dark blue Fender Bullet guitar w/ a white pick guard. I like blue basses and guitars, as well as green. Do you think I should get the dark blue w/ white pickguard(http://www.mdm-music.info/uploads/asBL-001.jpg), or true blue with black pickguard (http://www.voxhumana.nl/uk/instrumenten/bleustra.jpg)?

I’m also inept when it comes to building stuff. I was in tech class for 5 months, and I didn’t create anything of use. I made a model rocket, but the wings kept breaking, my group didn’t actually make a video in video production, and my wood boat broke half-way through, and I had to start over, the equivalent of two days’ work.

That true blue with black pickguard looks real nice. That might have inspired me to keep my old pickguard. That and laziness.

I don’t really like white pickguards, they look goofy to me. And dark blue seems a little meh.

hi
I just bought the exact same guitar (only right-handed). I took it apart to CLEAN (im a woman :p) and when i put it back together,i had a problem with the strings being lifted to high from the neck near the middle. Sounded bad too. But ok, now I’m thinking of painting it pink or so (leave the putting-back-together to a pro). Are you gonna do that yourself too? And I just wondered about the Krylon, is it nitro or acryl ? or don’t you have acryl (cos I’m from Europe, here they have acryl in spray cans).
Its my stupid birthday so I have to wait until this evening to GET my Sanding paper. A friend bought it for me (well, paid it) and he took it along with him.

This is what I used for the blue:

I’m not sure if that’s acrylic or what, it actually doesn’t seem to say. The cans of Krylon Crystal Clear all say acrylic on them.
