I know and i think that it dont matter if the courts didnt prove he was guilty how many cases do you know that the “justice system” has let the criminal go free even though they had so much evidence… I agree he was a very talented person but i dont care even if your the most famous person in the world… like jason said you admit that you share a bed with children then you belong in prison….

I think you are reading in to what I am saying..

I never said he was a hero. I think he was a freak.
But he was an extremely talented freak.

And Matt,

No, nothing was proven in court.. any more than it was proven OJ killed his wife..
But a huge sum of money was paid to keep the kid quiet..
and it was shown the man gave kids “jesus Juice” and he flat out admitted to sharing a bed with children..
that’s just plain weird man.. no matter how you slice it.

He had three kids. He never really had a childhood having started his career at the age of 5 and having had his dad assault him. For that reason he was very childlike himself trying to recapture the youth he missed and was also very close to children for their innocent and happy outlook on life without responsibility. He has had some very dodgy claims made against him but he was never found guilty of anything, and I can’t imagine a father of three also being a pedophile without molesting their own kids? I don’t know all the facts, but neither I would imagine do you, and the courts cleared him. Someone shown to be innocent of crimes is not a criminal. It’s a shame that he is tarred with that brush no matter what the outcome.

Well, Saganhill.. All I can say is that it sounds like you are having trouble separating MJ’s talent from his personal life.
I agree that he was a complete freak of nature.
He was a very very broken man, and was most likely a pedophile..
But I also believe he was extremely talented.
Probably more talented than most of the musicians you mentioned.. Even though I would rather listen to them than MJ…

And the way you talk about his stuff, likening it to rap/hip-hop.. I have to wonder if you are even familiar with MJ’s music?

Ya kinda sound like one of those crotchety old men who thinks the only musicians that had any sort of talent were the ones making music back when HE was a kid..

I hope I don’t become like you after ’35 years of music experience’ Saganhill. The fact that you generalize so vastly when it’s clear you won’t have known every teenager for the last 20 years around the globe nullifies your whole post in my view.
As already stated, most peoples music doesn’t touch everyone, and some no-one. People have different tastes.
You are not some kind of music guru who tells people what music is good and what music is bad. The self-importance of the way you made your points is embarrassing.
As for your comment about how MJ did nothing for society… he did a ridiculous amount. Ignoring the fact that people all over the world love his music, he also was one of the first black entertainers to be accepted by the wider world which some could say, paved the way for black entertainers everywhere to be accepted. Not only this, but he donated record amounts for a pop-star to charity. If you make half as much of an impact on society as him then you too would be a ‘hero’.

Yes, Im serious. I have been a musician for 35 years and I can tell you that teens for the past 20 or so years have no ear for music. The only thing that impresses teens seem to be only style–no substance.

All the artist I listed had no rivals to say they ripped off. Lennon and the Beatles were inspired by Elvis and Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf and others. They didnt rip them off like MJ ripped off other music talents. Sort of like Rap and hiphop today. Those idiots rip off others music blantantly in the form of sampling. Even so-called rock bands like the Verve did it and payed the price.

Sure, as a musician you can be inspired by other musicians but if you properly do the research about MJ and see where the moonwalk actually came from and all the other pops and farts he put on vinyl you will see a pattern.

Mj never grew up. And his talent can be all explained away in the recording room. Just as they play it back in concert and he lip-syncs to it. Big freakin deal…

He (MJ) is not a hero and he cheapens the word when used with his name. He did nothing for society except show what a true nutcase he was. He desrves none of the time he is getting on CNN or any of the other news venues. I think Ed Mcmahon and Farrha had more talent than he did and his death at the same time as theirs robs them of the attention they deserve!

Tone-deaf teens? are you serious?

MJ was a freak, and small children around the world are safer now without him,
but there is no doubt that the man was incredibly talented.
As for tone-deaf, the man had perfect pitch.
And “Better” is entirely subjective.
The musicians you mentioned were not “Better” they were just different, and you appreciate their music more than MJ’s.
There is nothing wrong with that, but call it what it is.
Every musician you listed was influenced, inspired, and some could argue ripped-off artists who came before him.
It’s just the way musicians work.
Inspiration borrows, genius steals.
