This is a wonderfully generic and uninspired discussion… But I want to hear about some other bands!

Muse were my band-of-the-moment. because I heard and liked their newest single on the radio. Then I started liking them a lot less because their web site sucks. and they’re only selling in Windows Media format with DRM. And _then_ when I had a look around for the CD. it was “Copy Controlled.” so I took my consumer dolars elsewhere. Nevertheless. Gnutella is a friend in such circumstances.
But. um. yeah. they’ve got a short clip of their song on their web site. if you can get it to work. -> http://www.muse.mu/

Good for you. Ashley. Vote with your money. I will not buy DRM’d music and I won’t buy a disc with copy control on it. I’ve gone further and stopped buying from Sony BMG because of their asinine “root-kit” policy of a few months ago. I didn’t buy the new Strokes CD when it came out even though I had their two previous ones. Will Sony notice? I doubt it. Maybe I’ll blog about how much I hate them some more.
Here’s some music. SolSquirrel. I’ve pimped it before in another thread here:
clap your hands say yeah (yes. that’s the band name)
the organ (theorgan.ca)
arcade fire…
British Sea Power
Interpol
LCD SoundSystem…
um… Tool?
what kind of music do you like?

Matthew Sweet? I thought he kinda petered-out.
That is a good list though. The Herb Alpert remixes are really tight. :)
I’m a big fan of BoC too. And Talking Heads… well.
Copy Controlled CD’s usually have a little extra graphic on them. I wouldn’t call it a warning, and it isn’t exactly obvious, but it’s on there if you look around. Mostly, I just avoid Sony BMG. They’re the big perpetrators.
I think the Copy Control logo looks something like. (<

Eagles of Death Metal are one of my current favorites.

I’m basically a shameless Mike Pattonophile. As such, one of my favourites at the moment is Peeping Tom, along with Mr. Bungle, Faith No More and Tomahawk.
Patton projects aside: Belle & Sebastian; the Monkees; Joe Satriani; Eels; Crash Test Dummies; Norah Jones; Radiohead; Queens of the Stone Age; Neutral Milk Hotel.

I forgot to list Eno (mostly his early albums) and Joanna Newsom.

Hooray for Neutral Milk Hotel, greatest band ever formed.
Well, along with Pavement and Modest Mouse.

I didn’t really think about that, but I guess it’s true. Also, your band rocks, and I might have put “Catch” on the list if you would have an album out.

Aw, thanks!
We have an album done and mastered (and an EP on the way), but, er… I don’t know how to do printwork.
My goal is to have the printwork done and the CD sent off to be manufactured by the end of the week. ::crosses fingers::
