Then I played San Andreas and it was OK but too large, scattered, a lot of dumb gameplay ideas.

Yeah, the enormous amounts of empty land between the cities in GTA:SA were annoying. And there were a few “drive to the other side of the map and back” missions which really got on my nerves.

Awesome Brad, thanks. I’ll add you. I just tried playing some multi-player but my internet is sucking, so I’ll try again later.

This Zero Punctuation review pretty much sums up how I feel about GTA 4:

Story’s boring/uneven, dating sucks, cops are too easy to shake, car physics are less fun. I’d also add that the missions lack variety and the cover system is clunky. But I’m still playing it.

Zero Punctuation is funny. I was thinking about subscribing for the whole website to see the GTA IV review, but I was notified by Planet Grand Theft Auto before I got around to do that.
Well, this review is no exception. I wish I could completely agree with him, since I don’t have the game. Oh well, some other time.
“Yeah, call back in nine months”. Heh.

To take this a bit off topic, has anyone here tried any of the other sandbox games, like Saints Row or Crackdown?

I played Staint Row and Crackdown. Both amazing games. The thing I really liked about Saints row was the create a character. You can go into crazy depth on their face, and the car physics and and explosions are awsome too. They are actually making a Saints Row 2 which looks ever better. And Crackdown was like a sweet super hero type of game like the Hulk game that was an open sandbox, but with guns and rockets. That game was kind of short. After you beat everything its like, “now what?”. I kind of want to check out that new Hulk game coming out. I like riping apart cites and turning a city block to parking lot.

Playing GTA 4 has gotten to be a burden. I want to finish it, but it feels like work. The plot is basically non-existent at this point and it’s just a collection of odd jobs and there aren’t many fun little things to do in the game like previous ones.

I’ve got a copy of Crackdown here a friend sent me but I still haven’t played it. I think I’m gonna sell a few games like Halo 3 and Gears of War once I wander back to the game store. Sorta thinking about Wii Fit because I guess I’m a girl.

You girl.

Crackdown’s got no real story, and it doesn’t matter in the slightest. I had more fun in Crackdown than I have had in GTA IV. Crackdown’s multiplayer stuff like Checkpoint Chase is just utter chaos. Fun chaos.

I’m also a fan of Saints Row; oddly, I thought the game took itself too seriously, but GTA IV has re-framed my reference point on that…

PS, chillbaron, if I see you online I’ll hit you up for some Crackdown action. I think you’ll like it better than GTA, because it’s completely open from the first moment.
