I thought I’d go back and re-play Vice City and/or San Andreas to fill the void Half Life 2 has left. However on my AMD duo core + ATI X1300 system their speeds are all over the place. In San Andreas it seems to be super super fast whenever I’m inside a location (like a day of time passes in about 3 minutes) but fine otherwise. Then some cutscenes happen really fast and eventually it hangs up during one of them. (Not a crash, it just sits there forever… waiting I guess.) Anyway I thought I’d complain. |

Maybe the game isn’t waiting. Maybe it’s just wrapped up in its own thoughts. |

Love GTA. Looking forward to IV, though it means I’ll have to drop a bundle on a 360. And an HDTV. And HD cable to watch on the TV after I finish GTA. Dammit. |

Yeah I’ll have to be playing IV. Though as I mentioned in another thread I was disappointed by San Andreas so I might wait a while rather than rushing in on the release date. I can’t find anyone on the intersnizz having the same GTA problems as me. Weird. |

I loved San Andreas to death. Here’s the secret to enjoying it (and probably other games, if they’re large enough); have 2-3 good friends play it through at the same time you do, so you guys can discuss it at length over beers for months. Try it with IV; I know I’m going to. |

Ah-ha looks like I had to go into the task manager and select which CPU I want to use instead of using both. Problem fixed. |

Choo have too many engines, mang. The beer-and-war-stories approach for GTA has worked great through last generation. But I’ll be stunned (STUNNED! I say) if they don’t implement co-op for GTA IV. “Mercenaries,” which is definitely the first worthy “GTA-killer” in my book, has announced that co-op will be supported in Mercenaries 2: World on Fire. |

I’d love co-op in GTA but it’d be tricky as they’d have to change the way all the missions work to support multiple players and I wonder how big the demand is. But still they should do it. Co-op in Halo was great. I actually got my girlfriend to play a FPS with me which was awesome and she loved it. Still won’t play on her own though. Since then I’ve been looking for other good co-op games but they mostly suck. I’ll have to look into Mercenaries, I’ve never heard of it before. |

Also I spent some time with Vice City again and I forgot how goddamn annoying it was to die in the water all the time. So I loaded up San Andreas with a trainer and have been summoning tanks and stuff for my beginner missions which is fun enough. Maybe I’ll try some Multi Theft Auto again. |

If you’re looking for other fun Co-op games, try out the Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath games. You and a friend can just run around dungeons, slay monsters, and supe up your weapons. Also, girls like the Guitar Hero games, and I know the 2nd one has some sort of Co-op mode. |

I’ve been thinking about Guitar Hero — you’re right, girls seem to love it. WarioWare has been pretty fun, the multiplayer in that is pretty girl-friendly. |

I’d have to play some Halo 1 co-op to see how they did it; or Gears of War, which also has well-implemented co-op, I hear. The only game I’ve done co-op in so far is Crackdown, and that was plenty of fun. But in general it seems feasible to take a single player game and integrate co-op; whether that’s through scalable difficulty or just accepting that the missions will go through faster |

Turns out the song is “Arm In Arm (Shy Child Remix)” by The Boggs. You can download it from their MySpace page. |
