The real music in that trailer is bullets singing off car wheels, kissing the windshield glass, tires shrieking a torqued alto… Man I can’t wait. All those high-res textures… Damn you, Rockstar. People talk down about your rough spots, your reliance on coarse puns and hookers, but I know the real you, Rockstar; details matter to you. And details will sell the game. |

Thanks for the heads-up on that song. I like it; I think the one for download on their MySpace is a remix that is substantially different sounding than the ’70s groovy thing they’re using in the trailer. I’m glad you pointed me back at that trailer; when I watched it the first time, it didn’t seem too impressive. I guess I was expecting a lot clearer visuals based on the scenes shown in the first trailer. But watching trailer 2 again, it looks pretty cool! |

I’m really wondering what changes will be made in the GTA formula for this game. I mean this is the first brand new GTA engine since GTA 3 so I’d expect some substantial differences. |

No idea how they’re topping 3. I’m in NYC right now and they’ve already painted whole buildings with the GTA4 logo. |

The only games that I’ve seen being played by many girls are DDR, Guitar Hero, Wii Sports, and the slew of MMORPGs. Since I broke my mmorpg habit after 5 years of everquest, the guitar hero games are probably my favorite. The co-op mode in GH2 is pretty fun, letting one person play lead guitar and the other person play bass or rhythm depending on the song. It also lets the players select different difficulty levels for co-op or faceoff modes, where GH1 only had same level faceoff as a multiplayer option. The 80s Encore edition (using the GH2 engine) comes out later this month! |

There’s a new article on GTA IV; unfortunately, it’s in German. Fortunately, the pictures are pretty. |

Yeah, but do you want it as badly as Microsoft? They really heisman’d Sony with that US$50,000,000 advance to Rockstar for exclusivity on the downloadable content. *strikes heisman pose* |

They didn’t even ask me for fifty million. How was I to know. I’ll probably wait a bit for it really. I rushed out for San Andreas on the first day (and bought a PS2 for it) and I was disappointed. |

Those screenshots make me happy in my pants. Between this, Mario Galaxy, and MarioKart I think I’m going to be spending a lot of time on my couch this winter. |

Brad: Disappointed? Really? Is that just in comparison to Vice City, or is it in comparison with the PC versions I’m assuming you played previously? Buildingonfire: Yeah. We’re going to need a treadmill to power our consoles, or we’re going to end up looking like Fat Albert. |

brian: I thought the story didn’t hold together as well in San Andreas and all the gang defending was annoying. In Vice City it kinda felt like home after a while once I got the big mansion, but in San Andreas I never even got used to some of the cities. |

I hear that. I’m a fan of Liberty City from GTA III, personally. Vice City’s map was annoyingly FLAT, and San Andreas’ map was annoyingly BIG. And the GTA:SA’s pacing is such that, yeah, you spend a lot of time tooling around Los Santos looking to put down territory incursions, then that gameplay goes away as soon as you get out of the area. After that, you’ve got an area about 4 times the size of Los Santos, but unless you run through R3 missions (e.g. Ambulance, Vigilante) in those cities, there’s no in-story reason to get to know them. Liberty City is “just right” with some crazy verticality between the Docks and the cliffs where the Mafia guys are headquartered, and lots of shortcuts through buildings that make you feel like you know the area like a native. That feeling is never incurred in San Andreas. Just realized, btw, you said you have an Xbox; if you’re considering Mercenaries, there’s an Xbox version of that – though it will not play on 360′s backward compatible feature. |
