Yep. I’m officially addicted to “We’re Not Friends.” I’ve heard it plenty of times before, but never actually got around to dumping it onto my MP3 player, until last week. Now I catch myself either humming or singing (albeit terribly) the tune at any given point during the day. The best part is, people often ask what I’m singing (or at least trying to sing), so Brad, you may just have a few new listeners due to my uncontrollable addiction to your music! On a somewhat unrelated note, the Future Shop I work at used to have a manager named Brad. When he first heard the music sometime last year, he got interested. Needless to say, we had a fun time telling him what the name of the band was. He had a good laugh about it, and asked me to grab him a t-shirt if I ever ordered one and he’d wear it over his uniform — WITH his nametag still on. Anyone else got any good stories somehow related to Brad and his music? |

That’s interesting because We’re Not Friends seems to generally be considered one of my weaker songs. Or at least that’s my impression. I think it’s a pretty fun song live but I haven’t really considered putting it on the next record. I seem to sell a lot of shirts to people who are named Brad or know someone named Brad. Whatever pays the bills I guess. |

I love “We’re Not Friends.” It may not reach the groovy coolness of “Dirtbag” but it’s still a lot of fun to play in your car while riding down the highway at 120 MPH. Oh, and when my friend broke up with his girlfriend, he blasted the song through his cell phone. She was livid :) |

I think I kinda fucked up the recording on that demo, but I eventually plan to do a better version that’s more rock. It’s the song I’m most likely to break strings during live. |

Haha, nice, fieryprophet…that’s the kind of stuff I love to hear. I sent it to a friend who’s been on the outs with a friend of hers…she had a riot. And Brad, keep it!! Haha, that is, of course, if you have room for it! Even if it doesn’t make it to the album, I’m perfectly content with the demo. As long as I can listen to it SOMEhow, I’m happy. Though I would be intrigued to hear it more “rock” as you put it…sounds pretty hard compared with most of your others tracks as-is…not that that’s a bad thing, of course! And yeah, I never did end up getting a shirt for Brad, as he left to another store. Wouldn’t have been the same having him wear it elsewhere…I wanted to see him in it :P I actually remember quite well how I stumbled across your music. As I’m sure a couple people did, I heard ‘Dirtbag’ used in a video…this particular one was a trailer mashup called “Toy Story 2: Requiem,” and it used the Psycraft remix of Dirtbag. I remember singing what I could remember of the chorus to myself over and over again until I finally looked up the lyrics. Haha, I still remember checking at least five sites because I couldn’t tell if Brad Sucks was the band or if someone was a little bitter when posting lyrics. In either case, my friend and myself made our first trip to this site, and probably ate up a hundred megs or so of your (and Future Shop’s) bandwidth in a single afternoon (all company time, of course :P). Past that, at the very least my favourite tracks and a few remixes I like (I’m very partial to the Stutterbug remix of Borderline) have a permanent home on my MP3 player. Keep it up, mate!! I’m itchin’ for the new album!! |
