So I have a guitar. I want to record it into Live 5 / The REAPER. I love the sound of Guitar Rig but my poor little PC hasn’t really got the horsepower to pile on the effects AND record error-free. I want some hardware to take the load off my machine.

What will give me the best bang for my bucks? A POD? A Behringer V-Amp? A Boss GT-5? A sans-amp and some pedals? I’m looking for something that can do an amp sim and at least 2 effects at the same time, and I would like to spend less than, say, $150. Used equipment is OK with me.

Go.

Looks like you could get a Boss GT-6 for around $150-$175 on eBay. It’s way better than the original series Pod I have here, but times may have changed.

is apparently a very good amp simulator and costs 97 bucks shipped. i’m not sure if that’s exactly what you want but it’s cheaper than a sansamp and probably works the same

I got a 60W Behringer BX 600 amp for $160, but you could get a 30 or 40W for 20 dollars less. I suppose.

you guys are approaching this wrong. You need to throw MORE money at the problem, not less! I recommend a complete system upgrade (the quad Mac Pros are super sweet) and a copy of Amplitube 2 and Logic Pro.
