I liked Oasis when I was younger, thought they were more “legit”. These days I like/respect Blur for doing something relatively new. But really I’m not much for the band wars, they’re both fine. I like a lot of really dumb lyrics and have a huge fondness for retarded pop lyrics that push the limit a tiny bit. Girls & boys I thought was pretty edgy at the time, with the sexually ambiguous thing going on. It was a lot more interesting than the straight up love songs anyhow. |

I always the the Battle of Britpop was really stupid (as are all music feuds). However, I do think it was a no-contest. Oasis had far better stuff out. Not just lyrically, but musically. I think when Oasis put out their single “Roll With It”, Blur put out some shit called “Country House”. Yet, no matter how much of a better song “Roll With It” was, people still ate “Country House” up, and they beat Oasis in the charts. But, that’s just the natural flow of things – pop-shit sells, and real music doesn’t. |

Muratses - Others - The only album by Blur or Oasis that I own is “What’s the Story Morning Glory.” As I recall I didn’t think much of it, other than “Wonder Wall” and “Champagne Supernova” of course. I looked up some singles of Blur’s. Recognized a few. Liked a couple. “Roll With It” is better than “Country House” but only because “Country House” sucks. I’ve never heard either song on the radio. Lyrically, I think I’m a Roger Waters/Dylan/Beatles/Ozzy/Neil Young/(…) type kind of guy. OMG, not that I’m putting myself on that level. They’re just the standard. |

lol @ josh. I’m not gonna hate on you for liking Blur, mate. But, if you like MCR or any of that emo crap, I won’t be angry with you – I’ll be disappointed. |

O.K. All the talk about Blur and Oasis reminds me of Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” and Joan Osborne’s “Relish.” They both had a hit about the same time. Both of their hit were just listen-able, but Alanis was, and still is, revered as nearly a musical second coming, and she had a follow up hit that was nothing but bad like the rest of the album. Joan’s hit was the only “not great” song on the album, but the rest of the album absolutely rocks. You’ve gotta be searching to hear anything about Joan these days. |

I’ve never been a fan of that Alanis chick. I mean, her stuff was ok. I’d rather listen to IT than a lot of today’s “music” (soulja boy, fall out boy, etc.), but it’s very bland to me. Quite honestly, I’d rather listen to I Am The Walrus 20 times. |

I don’t know if I’d name my album after a condiment. Unless I was trying to break into that market of course. |

Coming from the man who wrote about kids killing a cop at recess, that’s very funny. As far as naming albums after condiments, I don’t think it’s too far off from naming albums after cigarettes and alcohol. |

@DAVE Yes, I have to agree. Dylan, John, and Paul are simply the best. |

goo goo g’joob! (I always thought it was Coo Coo Cachoo myself, I heart the inter-net) Maybe Joan don’t know what she’s doing either? Have y’all ever heard that album? It’s great front to back, except of course “One Of Us” the only hit. Cigs and booze? I probably should know, but your going to have to clue me in. John, Paul, and Bob are for sure at the top, but if I were forced to name an actual #1 it’d have to be Roger hands down. |
