I log into myspace once every month or so and approve friends and look at what people comment on my page, but other than that its pretty boring to me. I know some people that cant go a day without logging onto the site… I actually make a few bucks here and there when some desperate kid needs a new proxy to access myspace at school, so i put one up for them. Edit: BTW my girlfriend is a myspace addict and bitches at me for not commenting her stupid pictures. |

Lately I’ve been getting like an assload of comment spam in there. And my personal internet guilt makes me spend the time removing it when really I should let it rot. |

MySpace has way too much comment spam for my liking. And it’s such a pain to do anything because “you have to log in to do that!” even though, y’know, I *was* logged in. |

I like when I try to log in and they tell me I have to be logged in to do that. It’s our little joke that we do. |

I have a myspace and a facebook. I’ll be honest, I cheat and use already coded skins for myspace… Because I’m lazy and an idiot when it comes to code. Also, I almost never use myspace because of all the spam and crap-tastic bands that try to become my “friends”. Facebook on the other hand, is hecka fast in comparison. However, it’s also easier to end up a total creeper on Facebook because of the quickness. You start out looking at your friends’ page and then all of a sudden (like 6 hours later) you’ve found the person who used to babysit you when you were in grade two. Hence the nickname Facecrack. |

Facebook is definitely a lot nicer and I can understand why people use it. I miss being able to be a “band” on it though. I’ve been thinking about writing something with the Facebook API but I haven’t thought of a very good idea yet. |

I can’t wait for a Flickr app for Facebook – I hate the low-resolution and load times of facebook photos, but with Flickr I can’t really shove my photos down my friends’ throats the way I can on Facebook. |

That’s funny because I’ve mostly bailed on Flickr because of low-resolution and load times in favor of Picasa & Picasa web. |

Ouch, you got me. Although you’re right about resolution, I still go with Flickr because of geotagging (a deal-breaker feature for me) and CC licenses, neither of which are in Picasa web AFAIK. Also I do like the sharing emphasis in Flickr – tagging, group pools – which seem less emphasized in Picasa Web. I do use Picasa software a lot though. |

Yeah Picasaweb lacks a lot of the lovely stuff that Flickr has. Flickr’s way more fun to look through due to the emphasis on tagging, interestingness, etc. But when I just have to get some photos to my mom, Picasaweb wins for me. What do you use geotagging for? I mean after you have your stuff tagged, what do you do with it? |

I mostly post photos from travelling – so my geotag-generated photo map is a great way to document a trip. I try to place them as specific as possible so when I look back in 10 years it helps jog my memory and add some texture. |

Whoah, that’s a pretty awesome map. Apparently Picasa supports geotagging, but my map would be pretty boring as I mostly like to stay in one place. |

Don’t know if anyone ever encountered this, but MySpace but has been doing something that would cause my DSL router to freeze up when the firewall is set above the “low” setting and I visited a MySpace band page. (This router has a quirk where it freezes up if the built-in firewall is trying to block too much traffic in a short period of time.) When I set the router’s built-in firewall to low, it doesn’t freeze up, but I notice (by looking at Zone Alarm’s traffic monitor) there is a flurry of internet activity traveling through my computer before the song player is even successfully loaded. Once song is loaded and playing, and you stop a song and wait several minutes the internet activity on my machine is STILL happening, so it appears to NOT be the result of song buffering happening. If you exit the MySpace page, then the internet activity stops altogether. Could MySpace be stealing a portion of my DSL bandwidth to perform some nefarious activity? JY |

Huh, not that I wouldn’t like to blame MySpace for that but it seems unlikely to me. More likely is that their shit is just broken and stupid and wasteful and bad. I found my favorite MySpace page today (make sure your sound isn’t too high): |

I guess MySpace is losing its popularity worldwide. They should make an awe interactive feature to get up. |
