Now that I’m not feeling guilty or stressed for needing to deal with posting remixes. I’ve been enjoying watching them roll in.

This Fixing My Brain one’s pretty cool:

Has a few super-loud bass notes but that’s probably the source material’s fault.

That’s pretty good. You must be popular if people take time to remix your songs. Speaking of that, I tried to mix a song today. I failed…horribly.

I like that remix, but at points it sounds like it’s lurching suddenly into something completely different. I think it needs a bit of glue to make the different sections flow better.

I think someone should come up with wikisong so that people can tweak a remix until it sounds perfect. :-) I know a fresh ear always picks up niggling things that you don’t get if you’ve been listening to something for the last few hours.

That’d be cool. I think myvirtualband.com does that sort of thing, but it’d be neat to see it actually wiki-style.

There is an online mixing experiment using folk music and live recordings from the streets of New York. It can all be done real time on the site (although this is pretty rudimentary at the time).

I’d be more interested in doing an online tandem back-and-forth style mixing. Something a bit more involved than just tweaks; the loops would constantly evolve and get swapped back and forth. Course at some point itd have to come together as a real song.

That’s the tough part. I’m not sure distributed songwriting can really work well. Even in bands it’s difficult, never mind scattered throughout the internet. I’d be interested to see it happen though. It might be good for production. Someone brings the core of a song and then everyone tries to gussy it up.

Words I learned in this thread so far: niggling and gussy.

Thought I might as well post it on here as well. Cheers!

That’s pretty cool. I think your music there would sound better without my crappy vocals on it. But maybe I’m biased.

Thanks for pimping my remix. brad. The super-loud bass notes are because I turned the bass up too high. I think. The source material doesn’t boom and pop like that.

I’ll do a collaberative thing. I suck at beats. so if someone wants to tackle that side. that would be super.

would have to be one of my favorite mixes. johnno…if only I could get the beat to that and slice up the brad sucks lyrics. and add more lyrics. that could win american idolz

American schmerican. don’t settle for second best. Be top of the pops in Uruguayan Idol.
