I just preordered Spore because it looks amazing. For those who don’t know, you create creatures, and see how they evolve from single-celled organisms to full-fledged societies. I figure, if I don’t preorder soon, I probably won’t be able to get it for a couple weeks after it arrives. Who knows, maybe it’ll be as popular as the Wii.

I watched a bunch of early Spore stuff but I have no idea what to think. I generally don’t like Will Wright stuff. I mean, I respect it, but I don’t find micro-managing very fun. Though I did get sucked into The Sims once and wound up having a hard time sleeping because I was thinking about how to hold down a second job so I could buy a better refrigerator. I quit shortly after that.

Yeah, if you want to properly furnish a house, and lead your Sims to a happy life, that’s extremely time-consuming and too much like real life. Normally, I have one family that I go keep happy, and other families I create just to see how screwed up I can make their lives before I give them a pool. With no way to get out.
It’s quite funny killing Sims. In the original Sims, you could put fireworks inside, set them off, and that would start a fire. If the fire department came, you could remove all doors, so they just run around watching the house burn.
