People can pay for them if they’d like to. |

To answer this again but without a flip response: with the new record I’ve thought about maybe not offering it for free but the benefits of letting people download the tracks vastly outweighs trying to lock them down. As I’ve said in a few interviews, most of the “marketing” Brad Sucks does is just fans spreading my songs. So while I might make a few more dollars up front, I’d be hindering that whole process and that doesn’t seem like a good trade for the long term. |

I think you’re right Brad. |

Maybe this is a load of crap, but something tells me that it depends on the artist. I think giving them away works for Brad because his music attracts the type of fan that would willingly pay for it, whereas much of the “major-label” music that the record companies push on the market is bought by kids who just follow the next trend (and therefore don’t share any real connection with the artist). |

I think what fieryprophet said is completely true, but just a little incomplete. I think Brad could easily be one of those “major-label” artists with the proper luck (because really that’s all that’s left, he has the skills and the talent), if he should so desire. He would then attract those same kids who don’t share any real connection with the artist. I don’t think it is as much the artist as it is the fan. True the artist attracts the “X” fan, but the “X” fan is attracted to what ever is pushed down their throat. Brad would be able to attract more fans like the ones he has now (us), but it would be a small percentage of the total number of fans he would have if he had major-label backing. |

Interesting insights. All I know is the usual record deal thing always seemed like a bad loan. Someone loans you a ton of money and then decides how much and how they’re going to spend it. So they can spend 1.5 million cramming your record down the mouths of teenagers and only make $20,000 and you owe them the difference. No thanks. It’s interesting because I’m at a point where I feel some money invested in promotion would probably help get legit fans and generally make things go faster. But I worry about wasting that money on something stupid and unnecessarily raising the cost of making and distributing the music. The goal’s always been to keep costs low so profiting is easier, not to put myself in millions of dollars of debt so I can _look_ like I’m doing well. I’m hungry and I might be rambling. |

Hey, I just have to say, first off, great album! Awesome stuff. Secondly, thank you for offering them for free. I listened to the album the whole way through and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I then purchased the FLACs from the digital store. I probably would not have purchased the songs if they weren’t freely available to listen to before hand, and I know I’m not the only one like that. Also, thank you for the FLACs ;) I feel bad paying money for lossy compressed music. Anyway, keep up the good work! The word is getting out with or without marketing ;) |

Brad – I don’t think you were rambling at all. One question, and you certainly do not owe us an answer, in fact you may want to ignore this all together, but, are you willing to be a “mega-star”? Define “willing” either way. |

radhruin: Glad you like the album and the FLACs! DaveII: What do you mean by “mega-star”? I don’t have a lot of patience for things that don’t benefit me creatively. |

I guess “Mega” might be a bit overstating what I’m asking. What I’m wondering is, what’s your dream end game scenario, with respect to your careerer as an music artist/performer, and if it is to make loads of money (which translates into “mega”) then (a) are you willing to accept the consequences and responsibilities along with the rewards and (b) are you trying to will your self into that position? (b meaning – do you want it bad?) Sorry for the run-on. |

I’d love to make loads of money but I don’t think that’s very realistic. I’m basically just hoping for sustainable living sorta thing. I think I’m too lazy for the full-on star thing. Being Britney seems like a ton of work. I’m still trying to get motivated about touring but it involves leaving my home so I’m suspicious of it. |
