Brad Sucks logo contest

I've put up a $100 jackpot in this Worth1000 contest for a Brad Sucks logo. I've been trying to put together a semi-decent press kit forever now. I hate doing that stuff, it's awful and I'm terrible at it.

I thought a cool logo might help, but art is hard to come by. I talked to a few people about it but after pricing it out I decided I'd give the Worth1000 community a shot. They're enormously creative over there (check out their previous corporate contests) and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Podcast roundup

Here's a list of some of the podcasts that have been playing my stuff lately:

I'm also in this Japanese Podsafe music network now and have been played on a bunch of podcasts I can't figure out the names of.

And as for traditional radio my album's in the Top 5 of the Top 30 on WMEB, the University of Maine station. Thanks to everyone playing my music!

Gig on the 22nd

Brad Sucks is opening for the Eric Eggleston Band this Thursday (the 22nd) at the Greenfields Xmas Bash. Tickets are $8 advance and $10 at the door. Doors open at 9pm and apparently there are also prizes. This is our first full set (40 minutes or so), so if you wouldn't mind getting really drunk so you can't remember anything the next day, I'd appreciate it.

Brad Sucks collaboration contest

Hey look, it's the Brad Sucks Online Collaboration Contest, brought to you by KillYourFM Magazine and MyVirtualBand.com. Here's how to participate.

MyVirtualBand.com is a site I think I've talked about before. Its main goal is to hook up potential musical collaborators and get them working on songs together. For this competition thing, I've provided the source to my song Dirtbag. People can now collaborate with it or re-record everything or do whatever the like with it. Entries will be judged and so on. Here's how to participate.

Boing Boinged

Hello to everyone coming in from Boing Boing. My server exploded under the weight of everyone trying to download my source files and remix album at once, but things seem better now. I've had to take the remix album MP3 files offline temporarily and I'm trying running everything else through Coral.

If you can, please use Bittorrent to grab the remix album and source:

Here's the I Don't Know What I'm Doing Remixed torrent. (96 megs)

And here's the I Don't Know What I'm Doing Source torrent. (560+ megs)

Thanks!

I Don't Know What I'm Doing Remixed

I Don't Know What I'm Doing Remixed is finally online. 18 tracks, 1:04:09 playing time. It was a lot of work putting it together but I think it turned out pretty well. Thanks to all the remixers and to everyone who helped spread the word that I've been giving away the source to my album I Don't Know What I'm Doing. (You can get the full source here.)

Here's the zip file for I Don't Know What I'm Doing Remixed. Here's the torrent.

Full album source online

The remix compilation is just around the corner (finally), so here's the source for the final two songs off the album: Never Get Out [20mb] and Work Out Fine [43mb]. So now after a lot of cutting and looping and exporting, the source for my entire album I Don't Know What I'm Doing is available online here.

I've also got a torrent of the whole thing: Brad_Sucks_-_I_Dont_Know_What_Im_Doing_(source).zip.torrent. The source to all the songs is in there and it weighs in at 560+ megs. This may crap out if bandwidth gets tight, so get it while you can.

The Economist interview

Last week I did an interview with The Economist of all magazines. But don't worry, it wasn't about my massive indie rock riches (which are both very massive and very real) -- it was about Magnatune. Hopefully I don't come off like too much of an ass in it and a lot of rich people with monocles buy my album.

I Don't Know What I'm Doing CD

The professionally manufactured CD of my album I Don't Know What I'm Doing is now available for orders. It's ten bucks plus shipping. I made enough money giving my music away for free -- through licenses and digital sales and donations -- that it was possible to press up some sexy CDs.

For a long time people have asked me to sell a "professional" copy of the album and I'm happy to finally be able to provide one. Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible.

Full text RSS feed

So until Scoble posted about a boycott I had no idea that the issue of excerpts versus full text in feeds was so huge. I've been using RSS aggregators for a couple of years now and have always preferred headings and decent excerpts. I've unsubscribed from more feeds for having too much text than I have too little. I don't really want to switch my main feeds for that reason, but I've made a full text feed here for the people who want it:

http://www.bradsucks.net/rss2/fulltext/

I have no plans to add RSS ads because I think they're dumb and gross.

Also for any Wordpress hackers out there looking to do this on their own blogs, I've described what I did to make this work here.

CC Mixter

Last week I took the time to finally add all of my currently available source files to CC Mixter and I also uploaded the vocals separately because I'm told that's desirable. You can get to my junk here. If you sign up to CC Mixter you can upload your remixes and have them listed on that page, etc.
