List of songs deemed inappropriate by Clear Channel after 9/11 - Maybe this list shouldn't be funny, but it kind of really is. Update: apparently this is all lies so now it's 100% funny! (Thanks Ravensky)
Exeem is out but it has spyware in it (Cydoor), so I ain't installing it. I'll give Exeem lite a shot instead. Zeropaid has a review up here and makes it sound like it's just another spyware infested, junk-filled Kazaa. Booooring.
MoonEdit - a multi-platform collaborative text editor, seems like it'd be useful for a lot of creative things.
Looks like you can vote for (or against, oh god!) my song I Think I Started a Trend on the Triple J Net 50. Thanks to Hayden for the tip. Also thanks to all the friendly Australians emailing me. All the positive feedback has been real great.
Preventing comment spam - looks like all the major search engines are implementing a way to hopefully curb blog comment spam. I started getting a few hundred a day recently so this is great news.
I was making up a batch of album orders today and my CD burner croaked. This is the second burner casualty since starting my whole DIY home burning operation. The last one died back in October '03 so I got a year and change out of it which isn't too bad. But still this is something I hadn't factored into my whole home burning thing and is making me wonder if I've outgrown my ability to do it.

Latest song source is still Sick as a Dog. I'll be getting back to emailing remixers about including them on the remix CD real soon. Email me your mixes soon if you want to be on it.
Scott sent me The Cut-up Page. And it's a pretty great resource for anyone interested in cut-ups. My favorite one so far is Bot 002 which makes cut-ups from text it finds on the web randomly through Yahoo. It'd be extra great if you could specify the source or seed it with some text for its search query, but still it's better than most of cut-up tools I'd played with before.
The Sound of Data - Piping data into an audio player in Linux. The sounds are way cooler than loading non-audio files into trackers I used to do.
No Australian iTunes For You. This is a drag for me personally because of the recent Brad Sucks Triple J airplay. Hopefully they'll get their act together soon.
The Most Over-Blogged Bands of 2004 - Coolfer takes a semi-brutal look at the most over-blogged bands of 2004. I don't dig on railing at hype, but railing at blog hype is still kinda novel.
What Goes On - The Beatles Anomalies Page - an exhaustive list of mistakes/curiosities in the entire Beatles catalog. (via Ask Metafilter)
Open Source Beer - I've been down with open source music for years, but open source beer is a new one to me. (via Bifurcated Rivets)
JStaccato Drums - these are the most awesome drums I have ever seen in my life. (via Bifurcated Rivets)
The new Apple announcements made today are pretty interesting for us stingy PC users. The iPod shuffle is a 512mb-1GB Flash-based iPod for $99-$150. As a musician I'm of course excited about how many more consumers this will get into the iTunes music store so they can buy my album. As a consumer I uh want one. The Mac mini looks super cool. A tiny (6.5 inches wide / 2 inches tall) 1.25GHz G4 Mac priced at $500. Doesn't come with monitor, mouse or keyboard, which is fine. Engadget claims the lack of audio in is a big deal, but I can't see how it is. You may not be able to use your crappy $10 microphones with it, but with USB and Firewire you can use all sorts of audio devices ranging from consumer to professional.
Very sassy moves by Apple all around. I'm curious to read about how easily that Mac can be turned into a tiny recording studio.
using a tablet as a midi controller - great tip, I'll have to dust off my tablet and give this a shot. (via CreateDigitalMusic)
Coolfer: Tech Myopia - Coolfer takes tech journalists to task. I often think that just as folks in the tech industry cringe when outsiders think they "get it", tech writers need to realize that maybe the music biz is a little more complicated than it seems on the surface.
